Fuel Burner Components - Liquid Turbine Flow Meter

2026-10-13

The fuel supply system of the fuel burner requires flow monitoring to provide signals to the fuel flow control device. Fuel flow monitoring widely uses liquid turbine flow meters. The liquid turbine flowmeter can monitor the flow rate of liquid fuels within the viscosity range of light diesel, heat-treated heavy diesel, heavy oil, ethanol, etc.

Please pay attention to the following matters when installing and using.
Scope of application
·Suitable for measuring single liquids that are clean or basically clean.
·Suitable for measuring volumetric flow rate or total volume in closed pipelines.

Flow Sensor
·Select appropriate basic parameters and performance instructions according to product needs.
·Attention should be paid to data on the usage environment, including environmental temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, external magnetic   ·field interference, mechanical vibration, etc. External magnetic field interference and mechanical vibration should be small enough to be negligible.
 ·Is there an explosion-proof requirement.
·Pay attention to the requirements for input and output signals. Connect the wires according to the flowmeter manual. The transmission cable should be a      shielded cable.
·Reasonably choose the connection structure and size. (including two methods: flange connection and threaded connection).
·Normally, flow sensors are installed horizontally. The direction of fluid flow is consistent with the flow direction markings on the shell.
·The axis of the sensor's pipeline should be aligned with the corresponding pipeline axis, and the gasket used for connecting and sealing should not extend  into the interior of the pipeline.
·The flow control valve is installed downstream of the sensor.

Flow Transmitter
·Be sure to disconnect the power supply before wiring, and live wiring is strictly prohibited!
·After the flowmeter is running, if it is necessary to adjust the zero output of the flowmeter on site, the steps and requirements in the flowmeter manual must be followed.

After the flow meter is running, the full output value of the flow meter cannot be adjusted on site. If adjustments are needed, they need to be returned to the manufacturer and completed on a standard flow device.
·Prevent the instrument from being damaged during transportation.
·The storage location is rain and moisture resistant, with minimal mechanical vibration and avoiding impact. Avoid outdoor storage.
·When storing used flow meters, the dirt and impurities attached to the housing and detection rod should be cleaned first.

Ø Gas eliminator: used to eliminate free gases in fluids and avoid measurement errors caused by the volume occupied by free gases.
Ø Filter: Filter out various impurities (such as particles, fibers, ferromagnetic materials, etc.) in the liquid to prevent them from entering the sensor, ensuring that the components inside the sensor (especially the shaft and bearings) are not damaged. The mesh size of the filter depends on the impurities in the fluid, generally ranging from 20 to 60 mesh.
Ø Rectifiers: When the length of the straight pipe section in front of the sensor is ≥ 20 times the nominal diameter, a rectifier can be omitted. Otherwise, in order to ensure the accuracy and stability of the sensor, a rectifier must be installed to eliminate the effects of bias current, rotational flow, eddy current, etc.
Use
Ø Before installing the sensor, it is limited to connecting the wires of the display instrument or oscilloscope, turning on the power, blowing or manually turning the impeller to quickly rotate it, and observing whether there is any display. When there is a display, check each part and eliminate all faults before installation.
Ø At the beginning of use, the sensor should be filled with liquid before opening the outlet valve.
Ø When the sensor is not in use, the interior should be cleaned. The general maintenance cycle is six months. During maintenance and cleaning, be sure not to damage the impeller components listed in the table.
Ø Users should fully understand the corrosion situation of the tested liquid and strictly prevent the sensor from being corroded.
The liquid turbine flowmeter equipped with the fuel burner is accompanied by the manufacturer's "Installation, Use, and Maintenance Manual" along with the burner's factory documentation. Please fully understand the contents of the instruction manual during the installation, use, and maintenance of the liquid turbine flowmeter. Due to space limitations, this article only lists some precautions. For detailed information on the structure and working principle, wiring usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting methods of the liquid turbine flowmeter, please be sure to follow the requirements listed in the instruction manual.
In the installation, commissioning, and use of flow meters in fuel burners, adopting the correct methods and providing appropriate protection will ensure the effectiveness of burner use, increase production efficiency, and create more economic benefits for you!
