The working principle of ultrasonic level meter is that the ultrasonic transducer (probe) sends out high frequency pulse sound wave when it meets the measured object level (material) surface is reflected and converted back to reflect echo is received by the transducer into an electrical signal. The propagation time of sound waves is proportional to the distance from the surface of the object. The relation between acoustic transmission distance S and sound speed C and sound transmission time T can be expressed by a formula :S=C×T/2.
As the transmitted ultrasonic pulse has a certain width, the reflected wave overlapped with the transmitted wave in a small area close to the transducer, so the distance value cannot be recognized and measured. This area is called the measurement blind spot. The size of the blind area is related to the type of ultrasonic level meter.
